If you've been following the comic so far, you've probably noticed that it's been a couple weeks since the last update. Long story short, I'm having some serious difficulty adapting to this new job, and as a result, I'm putting a number of my creative projects on hold for the foreseeable future until I've got a handle on work. Bugged Run WILL be returning; I have the whole thing outlined in a fair amount of detail (right down to the choreography of every battle) all the way to the Elite Four, and I am absolutely determined to see this thing to the end. A big thank you to everyone who's been reading, commenting, and favoriting so far; you guys help make this thing worth it.

See you again (hopefully) soon,

Wryte

For two reasons. One, I've been behind on the pages and a little burned out since I did that ill-advised 5 updates in one week thing, so a little time to reset is just what the doctor ordered. Secondly, I need to take some time to prewrite this sucker. I've been flying by the seat of my pants so far, and while I haven't written myself into any corners yet thus far (thanks to already having the basic narrative to follow from the game, in large part), but a few things aren't quite lining up as well as I thought they would when I wrote them. Mainly, the spur of the moment decision that Chrys and Ariel are cousins and the idea that part of their animosity is born from Chrys's resentment of Ariel babying her. It makes sense for Chrys, but what I didn't account for at the time was that it didn't explain (and in fact, seems to contradict) why Ariel was so bitchy to her thus far.

So yeah, I'm going to actually work out at least a bare bones script beyond the "repeat the game's plot with some twists" approach I've been using so far. I started this project to improve my art, not my writing (I already go to a weekly writers' peer review group for that), but that doesn't mean the writing gets to suck.

But seriously, holy crap, I've been doing this for three months and actually managed almost 30 pages so far? I'm not sure I believed I'd actually get this far when I started. :P

There are so many joys that come along with a new computer. Like finding out that your old graphics card is actually better than the one in the new PC, but you can't close the case anymore after putting it in. Or upgrading to the newest version of GIMP, where it turns out your preferred pen settings aren't there anymore. Or, most frustratingly at the moment, learning that your scanner software doesn't work with any OS newer than Windows XP, when 90% of the reason you switched to the new PC was to upgrade to Win7, and the company that made it hasn't bothered to release a new version that is compatible with your new OS.

Bluuuuuh.

So anyway, I can still use my scanner, but I have much less control over the scanning process now. Lightening, darkening, and changing the contrast have all become much more difficult overnight because of this, which is even more frustrating because I have half a dozen new sketches sitting in my book. Guess I shouldn't have waited so long to scan them. Sigh...

Because GIMP2 is seriously not cutting it for my line quality.
